The Mediterranean Sea retains the warmth of the long Italian summer. The water is inviting for a morning swim, but late summer can also bring jellyfish into the anchorages. Setting up a yacht pool with jellyfish protection gives your guests a place of their own to enjoy the sea.

Setting up a yacht pool for jellyfish protection
Choose a location with calm, sheltered water to deploy the pool. The Mediterranean shoulder season often provides flat conditions in the mornings. The process is straightforward when your deck crew follows a clear routine.
- Measure the stern space. Before moving the packed product, check the clear water behind the yacht. The Deluxe Water Pool 4.10 m has external dimensions of 410 x 410 cm. The pool must lie flat on the water without touching the hull, the propellers or any nearby boats.
- Prepare the deck and unfold. Find a clean deck area completely free of sharp objects. Unfold the pool carefully. Dockee pools use a robust construction of 0.9 mm PVC with drop-stitch fabric. They require a flat space to unroll properly before you attach the pump.
- Connect the heavy-duty pump. Ensure the valve is securely closed for inflation. Connect the Air Pump 1200 W. This powerful unit runs on standard 230 V power and inflates large items efficiently. The 1200 W model reduces setup time considerably.
- Inflate to the correct pressure. Fill the pool frame to the pressure stated in the product instructions. You can read more about this process in our setup guide. A drop-stitch product feels firm and rigid when correctly inflated. Air expands as it warms in the afternoon sun, so check the pressure again on hot days.
- Launch and secure the frame. Lower the inflated pool gently into the sea. Tie your lines only to strong, suitable fixing points on the yacht. Keep all ropes completely clear of the propellers. Check that the lines hold the pool steady, clear of the hull, so nothing shifts during use.
- Inspect the mesh barrier. The integrated fine-mesh net drops down into the sea to create the protected swimming area. For the 4.10 m pool, the depth reaches approximately 220 cm. Check that the net hangs evenly before anyone enters the water.
Enjoying the pool at anchor
Once deployed, the pool provides a generous, clear area for guests to relax. The firm perimeter gives you a stable edge to sit on or walk along. This top edge features a non-slip, teak-look surface. It is a teak look only, not real wood, and it needs no oiling or sanding to maintain its appearance. You can sit right beside the water, resting on a surface that mimics a traditional deck without the heavy maintenance.
The mesh barrier keeps jellyfish and passing debris out of the swimming area. Even so, the usual safety rules still apply with a net in place. Always switch off your engines and thrusters while anyone is in the water near the stern. You must always supervise swimmers, especially children. A pool net does not replace supervision.
Connecting additional accessories
A yacht pool often serves as the anchor point for a wider floating setup. You can attach extra platforms or docks using the AirLink Tube. Place the units side by side, inflate the tube until it is rigid, and slide it into the connection loops. Fasten it tightly with the integrated straps. This creates a large continuous area off the stern, leaving plenty of room for mooring a Seabob or a tender.
Care and late-season storage
As the final charters of the Italian season end, your crew will begin preparing for winter storage. Dockee products are built for the marine environment and require little daily maintenance. Rinse the pool thoroughly with fresh water after contact with salt water. Clean the fabrics with a mild soap solution. Give the teak-look surfaces a regular, gentle clean to keep their pristine appearance.
You must ensure the product is completely dry before you deflate and fold it. Trapped moisture can cause problems over the winter months. Store the folded pool dry and out of prolonged direct sunlight, and it will be ready for next season.
